Porcelain Veneers |
|
| |
Natural looking and long lasting porcelain
veneers—one of cosmetic dentistry’s more recent developments—are
wafer-thin shells of porcelain that can be bonded onto the front side
of teeth to improve the teeth’s appearance. Porcelain
veneers are ideal for use on teeth that are stained or discolored,
worn, chipped, misaligned or as an alternative to orthodontic treatment.
There are several advantages to porcelain veneers:
|
|
| |
Easy for the dentist to apply |
|
| |
After it is bonded to a sturdy tooth
it becomes very strong and durable |
|
| |
Enhances your appearance for a long time, typically up to 10 years
with proper care and precautions |
|
| |
Porcelain veneers appear realistic—they are glass-like and translucent,
an advantage over other types of cosmetic dental bonding—mimicking
the light handling characteristics of enamel when the veneer is bonded
to the tooth |
|
| |
Stain resistant qualities because its surface is porcelain glass-like,
extremely smooth and impervious to stains. |
|
| |
Three appointments at the dental office are needed to apply porcelain
veneers. The first visit is for a diagnosis and treatment planning
session. Next is a preparation session when about half a millimeter
will be buffed off your teeth to create room for the veneer and a
mold of your teeth will be created and sent to the laboratory. Within
two weeks, the laboratory sends back the veneers based on this mold.
The bonding session is your last visit, resulting in natural looking
white teeth. |
